Day 11 + 12 AND Part of Day 13.
By Bernadette Terzich
I don't have it in me to write much so I'm just going to give you the bullet points from the last few days. It's just been so busy and chaotic...I know you all understand.
Day 11 - Tuesday
- HUGE PRAISE: MRI came back and showed that the tumor near the pancreas SHRUNK to a size that they can't even measure! Treatments are working and we give thanks and praise to our good God! We are continuing to pray for favorable results on all his scans.
- His stomach hurting is due to an infection - one that is pretty common with patients in hospitals (makes no sense to me) and is contagious. The doctors put him on 7 day antibiotics today. Please pray that no one visiting would get sick from this, I'm going to be selfish here and say....especially me. Logan is my concern and I wouldn't want to bring it home to him.
- His throat is still hurting and he can barely get any soups down.
Day 12 - Wednesday
- His counts are continuing to drop and so are his platelets. He had to receive his first platelet transfusion today since they are at 16,000. Normal platelet count should be 150,000-400,000.
- His throat still hurts pretty bad
- The doctors ordered a CT scan for his stomach
- His stomach is worse - he was in severe pain again when I saw him last night. They didn't give him any pain meds and his doctor never answered the page when I was there from 10-11:45pm. I put some essential oils on him and had him take some and it did relieve a little pain but not nearly enough. I was very reluctant to leave him but I had to.
- He wasn't able to sleep the previous night and all he wanted was rest.
Day 13 - Thursday (Before my visit tonight)
- He called this morning to tell me that he had one of the worst nights. No sleep. None. Mentally exhausted and frustrated and was crying out to the Lord ALL night. They never gave him anymore pain meds after I left and around 5am the pain was suddenly lifted for a moment. Praise God for that relief.
- Still unable to eat much and losing weight.
- He's getting sick after eating now so they put him on stronger antibiotics for his stomach.
- He's now on morphine and is resting as much as possible. They want him to rest - that is THE most important thing. More than food. He is still able to drink fluids and water so that's great news.
I'll be visiting again later this evening. It isn't easy seeing my best friend in pain. But, we KNOW this pain has a purpose. We don't think, we know. Just like last time - there was definitely a purpose for that pain and I'll explain another time.
Please continue to pray for his counts to climb up and that his body will be able to fight off these infections on their own. Pray for wisdom for these doctors and nurses to correctly identify and treat whatever comes up. Again, pray for rest for all of us and that we don't grow weary. Especially for Sasha, that he continue to fight. We so desire to work to advance the Kingdom of God as a family. As husband and wife.
"When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God." Acts 14:21-22
Thank you all.
In Christ Alone,
