Day 9-10 + Visiting

Thank you to the UCI Medical Nurses

Yesterday (Sunday) was Day 9 and it was the start of some of the chemo effects -  stomach and head pain. He also got his MRI! Finally!

Logan and I went up to see him and we brought a basket full of goodies for his nurses. {Special Thank you Renee for putting this together for me!!} We also happened to catch his parents there so it was nice for grandma and grandpa to hang out with Logie Bear too. :) Day 9's visit was very short. Too short for my taste but he wasn't feeling too hot so we left. :(

Day 10 -  We love to wake up to THIS......

FaceTime with Daddy

Still no MRI results, but his stomach still hurts and now his throat is starting to act up. Sasha didn't sleep at all due to his stomach pains. That special diet he was on is out the window and now we are bringing him nicely pureed soups and smoothies. I would love some good recipes for soups! :) We are praying that his throat won't be as bad as the last time he was in the hospital - it was so bad that he was unable to speak or take even a sip of water for about a week straight. It was truly the most pain I had ever seen him in and I honestly don't want to see that again. He asked me to let everyone know that he isn't up for any visitors this week, or until he feels good again. Remember when I said his counts are dropping? This is what happens when they drop. We forgot about this and it's all coming back to us again. How silly of us to think that he got away with not feeling bad from the chemo. What we need now more than ever is for God to continue to strengthen us, for Sasha's endurance through the pain and the "cabin fever" he's feeling and endurance for me to witness my dear husband go through this. It's getting real and it's getting harder each day. But do we shake our fist at God and blame Him for any of this? Never. We continue to trust Him & to grow closer to Him. That, my friends, is the benefit of going through a trial. You know who else benefits? Our sweet brothers and sisters in Christ - they are also growing closer and learning to trust in the Lord as much as we are. One of my sister/friend sent me this today as a reminder of this truth: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comfort us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's suffering, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Prayer warriors, please pray for Sasha to get rest in the midst of painful days and nights and as always, for God to be glorified through this.

In Christ Alone,
