Day 14 + 15
By Bernadette Terzich
There are many of you wondering what happened at the end and were anxiously awaiting an update from me. I won't go into too many details but here is a timeline of what happened in those last days.
Day 14 - Friday
- He went to bed Thursday night still in pain and still on morphine.
- His mom went to see him that Friday morning and called me around 2pm to tell me that his heart rate was high and that they moved him into a different room so he could be monitored closely.
- I arrived at the hospital and he was still talking to me but he was on a lot of pain meds so it wasn't a full conversation. Just bits and pieces.
- I left a few hours later to take Logan home and received a call from the doctor advising that they had to take him to ICU because his breathing was an issue. There was no sense of urgency from the doctor so I took some time at home before I left for the hospital with Sasha's dad.
- We arrived at 9pm and they said they had to intubate him due to the breathing. He told me that he was fine and not to worry....
- I sent his parents home around midnight and spent the night there with him. I was able to talk to him and I know he could hear me.
Day 15 - Saturday
- The infection hit various parts of his body and his immune system was too low due to the chemotherapy.
- I called his family around 4:30am
- The ICU area was completely filled with friends and family around 7:30am - I don't think that hospital has seen that many people PRAY all over their 7th floor. Ever.
- We were all able to see him and talk to him all morning.
- My loving sweet husband went to be with the Lord at 11:02am surrounded by friends and family.
